   Hi.

   I love your theme. I’m very new to blogging and jumped in before I knew anything about CSS or anything else. I haven’t gotten very far.

   I encounter several errors and don’t know how to fix them:

   I get no header image. I actually would prefer to have none, but the words “header image” appear at the top of my page. How can I eleminate them?

   Also, the open and close quote marks in my block quotes appear next to each other rather than at the start and end of a given quote.

   Finally, I need my RSS feed to be 2.0 and I don’t know how to change it.

   Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated.

   Hi hepzeeba…

   header image: you can replace any of the default header images with a 1×1 pixel transparent gif, if you like, or you can just edit the header image HTML out of the header.php file in the Tarski theme.

   The “header image” text you’re seeing is the alternate text for the header image, which you don’t seem to have uploaded. Your browser uses the alternate text when it can’t find the image.

   block quotes: that’s the way it is designed, and as far as I know to have it work the way you’d like would be a bit of a pain in the butt. I’ll let ionfish correct me if I’m wrong.

   feeds: To my knowledge WordPress should be generating RSS2 by default. You can try changing the /feed/ links in the theme to /rss2/ if you prefer, but /feed/ gives me the RSS2 anyways.

   I’d like to edit out the HTML, but I tried that yesterday and ended up changing the configuration of the columns and borders and had to start from scratch. Aargh.

   Could you please tell me which part of this to remove and how much space to leave above and below it?

   Heya, great theme…I have really enjoyed it for my site. There was one thing though…I was wondering how I could go about making it so the comment template only showed up in the middle\body section of the site. I have a lengthy sidebar so when someone clicks on a single post to leave a comment there is a whole lot of space between the post and the space to leave a comment even leaving some of my users thinking the comment box wasn’t there.

   What would be the best way to pull this off? Thanks for any help you could throw at me?

   hepzeeba, the best way to do it would be to replace the greytree.jpg with http://ionfish.co.uk/tarski/wp-content/themes/tarski/images/clearpixel.png. That way, your header image will be 1×1 pixels and transparent.

   Our next release will have a blank header image.

   Zach, ionfish is probably a better person to answer that than I, but I believe that it’s possible. May take some work, though… perhaps that will be something we add as an option in a later version of the theme.

   Zach: basically, you have to change the theme file single.php so that the line <?php get_sidebar(); ?> comes after the line <?php comments_template(); ?>. Then you need to tweak the loop.php file so the closing tag of the div with the id ‘primary‘ will appear after the comments (this may not be straightforward). Finally, you need to do some fairly major editing of the comments and comment form CSS so that they’re less wide and/or positioned differently.

   All this work is the reason we didn’t include it as an option, although obviously it’s a fairly serious usability issue for people with lots of stuff in their sidebar. I’ve briefly addressed the issue in this post on my blog, and it’s definately something we’ll give some thought to in the future. I don’t envision a wholesale change, because the way the comments work is something I’m pretty happy with, and I wouldn’t want to take it away from anyone, so any changes will have to make a different comment display optional—which, of course, makes it a lot more work. Watch this space.

    Alex, looks like your web host has stuffed things up a little – it’s looking in the server’s PEAR directory before it looks in the local directory. It definitely shouldn’t be doing that, so they’ve likely messed up their php.ini settings.

    Logan, it looks like a bug in the LiveCommentPreview plugin.

    Change line 185 from:

    echo('<script src="' . get_settings('siteurl') . '/wp-content/plugins/live-comment-preview.php/commentPreview.js" type="text/javascript"></script>');

    to:

    echo('<script src="' . get_settings('siteurl') . '/wp-content/plugins/live-comment-preview.php?commentPreview.js" type="text/javascript"></script>');

    (only change is the / becoming a ?)

    Hmmmm… I still am not getting this to work on my end… any ideas? It worked perfectly with my last theme and really the only main difference in the comment file structure is the comment form itself… IDK, just throwing out ideas…

    Seems strange that it’s not working, I have the latest version (1.7) playing just fine on our dev install. By the way, support for this plugin will be native to the next release so unless it’s urgent you could simply wait until that comes out in a few days’ time.
