So, 2.1 is finally out. Unfortunately we don’t have our companion 1.2.2 release ready yet (I’m away from home currently so it’s a bit tricky getting it all together), but it ought to be out in the next few days and should be fully compatible with WordPress 2.1 and the 2.0.x branch.
Ok, it’s out.

Is Tarski release is 1.2.1 currently compattible with WP2.1 or should we wait for Tarski 1.2.2?

Awesome news! I just heard about WP 2.1 so I was coming here to get your thoughts.
I won’t upgrade my blog at least until the weekend, and longer if the existing Tarski isn’t gonna work well.

I had a problem last night when I tried to install WP 2.1 where I received a Fatal Error that “the permalink()” couldn’t be redefined. I don’t think that was a Tarski issue, though I did nuke my Tarski directory, reuploaded the WP 2.0.7 files, and got things on my website working again, three hours later. I think, rather, that I had a conflict with a plug-in, though at this point I’m not sure which plug-in might’ve been responsible. I’ve learned I need to upgrade the comments plugin for Tarski’s sidebar, as there’s a much more recent version of that available than what I currently have.
Getting 2.1 to work may wait for this weekend, though. Except that House isn’t on tonight, so I’ve got the hours to burn this evening. ;)

I’ve just upgraded my blog to WP 2.1 and everything seems to be working and running smoothly on Tarski 1.2.2b.
Great work as usual Ben and Chris!

I couldn’t wait till the weekend… *grin*
Everything seems fine. My browser (opera) doesn’t play nice with their fancy editor (still) so I just don’t turn it on when I author posts. Everything else seems OK, and Tarski in particular doesn’t seem to be affected by the WP upgrade, at least not my installation.

Upgraded to 2.1, finally. Everything works except the Links and Categories in the sidebar.

The navigation display thingy doesn’t seem to work. I’m just trying to fix it with the usual template tag.

They changed the database schema so several things don’t work in 2.1 including the navbar and links list (basically the things where we didn’t stick to the API).
archshrk: wait for 1.2.2, 1.2.1 isn’t compatible with WordPress 2.1. The 1.2.2 changes are now listed in the changelog.

Some plugins are going berserk as well, but who cares… Tarski 1.2 is still doing fine enough.
Since you are busy with the next update anyway, how do you think about an optional additional sidebar (another 200px width)? My log files are telling me that virtually nobody is still using a 800px screen resolution anymore and I, for my part, could do with some more space for ads and other niceties.

The sidbar’s undergoing some revisions but we’re not going to go as far as adding a new column. You should be able to add it yourself, though, with the new sidebar functionality and a custom CSS file.

I just upgraded my blog to WP 2.1 and since my old theme didn’t work anymore as it should and I was tired of it I downloaded and implemented Tarski 1.2.1
When I looked on the changelog and saw all the goodies coming in 1.2.2 I was quite happy. Just one thing I didn’t like about 1.2.1 is the navigation in the head “Siteadmin” - I don’t want it there; haven’t figuered out yet how to get rid.
But everything else is just swell - thanx.

Ah, and another thing. you know a way to get “no comments” and “x comments” translated into german - “Keine Kommentare” and “X Kommentar(e)” - I would be delighted and jump up and down in gratitude.

I want to see the jumping:
Open loop.php in a text editor (you can do it inside the admin panel, but that takes an awful lot of reading code), find
('No comments', '1 comment', '% comments'); }and replace the word comment with Kommentar (same goes to the plural form, of course).
And… hepp!

Mushin - How to get rid of the Site Admin link in the navigation bar is covered in the forum here.
I just sax that Andreas just answered your other question. You should also edit the same things in comments.php..

if you could see me now! jump, jump, jump!
another thing though, just read about replacing the links widget and did; but it doesn’t come up on my plugins directory; is there anything I did wrong (tried both in the plugin dir. and the widget dir.)
And thanx for the very fast reply - you’re my hero!

I now also found a way to make the tarksi-link widget go after reading up on it in the forum. When using Dreamweaver to take care that no extra line is there clean them up in the design view!
Thanx,
Mushin

For people having problems with sidebar links in WordPress 2.1, I posted a solution to the problem in the Tarski forum. It involves a little edit to the sidebar.php file, but once it’s done the sidebar works again without the pesky SQL syntax error. :)

There is quite an intersting problem with posting - I cannot.
That means the text gets lost even though the title gets posted.
Anytime I want to post or update a post I get “Wollen Sie diese Seite wirklich verlassen”
This doesn’t seem to be a wordpress problem with 2.1. as other themes do not have this problem. So for now I work around by activating another theme, writing and posting my post, and then switching back to the Tarski theme.

I have no trouble posting, but I have the WYSIWYG editor (whatever it’s called) turned off - I thought my browser (Opera) was having issues with their editor, it has never worked right for me.

Mushin
In my case it was not the WYSIWYG editor, turned it on and off without solving the problem.
