After upgrading to WordPress 2.9, my blog, http://www.labitacoradeltigre.com, appears in English, not in Spanish. I've upgraded the spanish backend translation to the last version (2.9), I've deactivated Tarski, changed the theme and reactivated Tarski again, I've renamed the Tarski es_ES.mo to tarski-es_ES.mo, I've deactivated all the plugins, but everything to no avail.

As the backend appears in Spanish, I think there's some kind of conflict between Tarski theme 2.5 and WordPress 2.9. To check this intuition, I've installed another theme which uses a .MO file for the translation and it works fine.

I've read some problems with WordPress 2.9 and translation in WordPress forums, http://wordpress.org/search/2.9+language?forums=1, but I think they don't have to do with this case.

    Any idea?

Not off the top of my head, no. I know that some of the localisation mechanisms have changed, but as far as I know the old code is only deprecated, not removed, and I think all Tarski’s code is up to date in that regard as well. I’ll have a look into it—let’s try to make sure this is fixed before I release 2.6. I’m happy to delay the release if that’s necessary.

Thanks, Ben. In the while, I'll try to find an answer by my own means.

Perhaps anything related to http://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/11012? I've just noticed a similar problem in http://forum.prothemedesign.com/topic/translation-problem-after-udpdating-wordpress-to-29.

It seems that there's some kind of server problem in http://www.labitacoradeltigre.com. I have another domain, in a different company (BlueHost), and Tarski 2.5 translation to Spanish works fine there. You can take a look in http://www.elarequi.com/blogpruebas/.

But, why backend is translated and not frontend in the first server? I am not able to understand the reason of the different behaviour.

Problem solved, it's not Tarski theme fault, not at all.

You can read the solution in http://forum.prothemedesign.com/topic/translation-problem-after-udpdating-wordpress-to-29.

Thank you again, Ben, for your support and excellent work. Have a very merry Christmas.
