Bachata music is a distinct Latin-American music genre that has been developed African descendants who lived in the Dominican Republic during the initial part of the 20th century. It was a type of music that blended pan-Latin American bolero with other classic Latin-Caribbean rhythms and unique African elements. Typical instruments used in Bachata music are Requinto/Bachata guitar, electric bass guitar, guira (which replaced maracas), and bongo drums.
